Chicken a la King

1 can (4 oz.) mushrooms stems & pieces
1 small green pepper, chopped (1/2 cup)
½ cup butter
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
1½ tsp. instant chicken bouillon
1½ cups milk
1¼ cups hot water
2 cups cut-up cooked chicken
1 jar (4 oz.) whole pimiento, chopped
Toast, biscuits, hot mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles

Cook and stir mushrooms and green pepper in margarine over medium heat 5 minutes; remove from heat. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is bubbly; remove from heat.
Stir in instant bouillon, milk, water, and reserved mushroom liquid. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in chicken and pimiento; heat through. Serve over toast, biscuits, hot mashed potatoes, rice or noodles.
