Pepper Corn Bread

Recipe Courtesy of Cindy Schumacher

1 1/8 cups lukewarm water
3 1/3 cups white bread flour
1 ½ Tbsp. sugar
1 ½ tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. butter, softened
2 tsp. ground peppercorns
1 ¾ tsp. active dry yeast

This is a bread machine recipe. If you don’t have a bread machine, dissolve yeast and sugar in the lukewarm water. Set aside. Combine flour, dry milk, salt, peppercorns, and cornmeal. Stir in butter and yeast mixture slowly to make dough. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic.
Put in greased pan, cover with plastic wrap and dry towel and let rise until doubled in size.
Bake at 375 for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
