Russian Pork Chops

4 pork chops, 1½ inches thick
1 Tbsp. oil
1 Tbsp. flour
2 Tbsp. wine vinegar
2 tsp. sugar
½ cup sour cream
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste

Brown pork chops in oil and remove from pan. Add flour and stir to loosen crusty bits from bottom of pan. Add remaining ingredients and stir until blended. Return pork chops to pan, cover, and cook slowly about 50 minutes, or until tender.
