1 ½ cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
6 Tbsp. unsalted butter at room temperature
½ cup sugar
1 large egg, lightly beaten
½ cup milk

Coating:
6 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
½ cup sugar
1¼ tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and nutmeg into a medium bowl and set aside.
In a large bowl, using electric mixer on medium speed, beat butter and sugar until blended and creamy.
Beat in the egg, mixing until smooth and thick. On low speed, add the flour mixture in 3 additional and the milk in two additions, beginning and ending with the flour mixture, mixing just until incorporated.
Fill each muffin cup with about 3 Tbsp. of batter. Bake just until the tops feel firm and a toothpick inserted comes out clean, about 18 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes in pan on a wire rack.
Make the coating. Put the melted butter in a medium bowl. In another medium bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Roll the cupcakes in melted butter, then the sugar mixture to coat completely.
