Heritage Dutch Apple Pie

6 cups sliced, pared, tart red apples
½ cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup sifted flour
¾ cup sugar
½ cup soft butter
1 9” unbaked pie shell with fluted edges

Combine apples, ½ cup sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and mix well.
Arrange in pie shell.
Combine flour and ¾ cup sugar in bowl.
Cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle crumbs over apples.
Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes or until top is golden brown and apples are tender.
