Cranberry Christmas Cake

1 cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp salt
1 cup milk
3 Tbsp. melted butter
2 cups whole cranberries

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
Add cranberries, milk, and melted butter. Mix well.
Spread batter evenly in a greased 8 or 9” square pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve warm with butter sauce.

Butter cream sauce:
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
¾ cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla or dash of rum

Melt butter in small saucepan over medium heat. Add sugar, cream and vanilla or rum.
Bring to a boil and cook one minute. Serve warm over cake.
